To assure the safety of autonomous vehicles we have to put their safety features to the test. A very basic feature we expect from a self-driving car is that it wouldn't run over pedestrians. In our Autonomous Vehicle Lab we have engineered a device to put our cars to the test:
Finally, we ended up with a low-cost version of this presumably already low-cost version built by Audi for AADC. It turns out that Ken (in our first prototype) is quite heavy and Barbie is much easier to work with.
